- Participants must be 18 years of age to participate.

- Participants must be registered, fees paid, and have waivers signed by the end of the day on August 2nd, 2025. A booth will be set up at The Cranberry Portage Artisan Market to assist with registrations on August 2nd, 2025.

- Participants teams consist of 3 people, but must have a minimum of 2.

- There will be men's and women's divisions. Co-ed teams that register will compete in the men's category. 

- Cost to participate is $50 per team. Entry fee is due upon registration.

- Participants can register by clicking on the red "Register Here" box that will take you to the registration page. Entry fees can be e-transfered to cranberry.portage.winterfest@gmail.com

- Participants may bring their own canoe, but we will have some available to borrow on a first come first serve basis. Please indicate on your registration form notes if your team requires a canoe. We will notify you by email if there are any available. A $50 refundable deposit will be required in order to borrow a canoe.

- Participants must supply their own lifejackets, whistles, bail buckets, and paddles.

- Proper footwear is mandatory. No flip flops, crocs, ect. Trail may be slippery in some areas so no footwear that can slip.

- There will be water stations along the route.

- Participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Cranberry Portage Historical Marker in Athapap Park to sign in. Once signed in, participants will receive further directions on how to transport equipment to the race starting point.

- Competitors will begin the race with an approximately 500 meter paddle from the Engaged Learners site to the First Cranberry Dock (Viking Lodge).

- The portage portion of the race is approximately 2.3km. Participants will follow the signs and make their way towards the Little Dock Beach on Lake Athapapuskow. Participants must carry their paddles and lifejackets with them.

- Once your team has reached Little Dock Beach, you will board your canoe and paddle to a buoy located approximately 500 meters away from the shore. You must paddle around and return to the beach. 

- The race is over once participants have their canoe on the beach.

- Placement Prizes are as follows:

          Men's 1st - $500

          Men's 2nd - $300

          Men's 3rd - $200

          Women's 1st - $500

          Women's 2nd - $300

          Women's 3rd - $200

- Flag Prizes:

          - There will be numbered flags hidden along the route. Participants that find these flags must carry them while racing and hand them in at the end of the race in order to receive the corresponding item prize.

- The Cranberry Portage Winterfest Committee reserves the right to remove prize categories if there is low registration in divisions.
